Donna Marcus: Radiate

Radiate is a publication developed alongside artist Donna Marcus’s 20-year survey at HOTA, Home of the Arts. Rather than serving as a catalogue of a single exhibition, the book was created as a long-term record, an archive of practice across two decades.

Marcus’s work is grounded in symmetry, seriality, and the reuse of domestic materials. The publication responds not by interpreting this logic, but by structurally embedding it. Covers feature the same work in lit and unlit states. Endpapers mirror opposing gallery walls. A central spread creates an axial pause at the book’s midpoint.

Studio Starr worked closely with the artist to develop the book’s sequencing and rhythm. Every design decision supported the artworks’ internal order and extended the logic already present in the artist’s practice.
