Neon
State Library of Queensland
2024

Neon explores the history of neon signage in Queensland, spanning from the 1940s to the present. It showcases the work of skilled craftspeople who transformed glass bending into a vibrant art form and, in the process, established it as a symbol of urban life and global popular culture.

Among the original works on display is ‘Stefan’s Rainbow’, an icon of Brisbane’s cultural and commercial landscape. The exhibition also features a collection of photographs and original footage from the State Library’s collection.

The summer exhibition runs until February 9 2025.
