APPROACH

PURPOSE
We begin with a respect for content and acknowledgment of reader. Through meticulous attention to layout and sequence we create a visual narrative that accentuates and emphasises, giving print real purpose.

CAUSAL
From periodic magazines and reports to exhibition catalogues and artists books, we have been designing and delivering publications for over two decades. Fundamentally this has given us the experience to know how in-project decisions effect milestones, budgets and most importantly, end-of-project deadlines.

RESPONSIVE
It's always best to get a publication moving early. This gives all stakeholders time to evaluate initial ideas and implement potential content shifts. This, followed by an iterative development process, is key to a well scrutinised print project.

PROACTIVE
Publications aren't small undertakings. We assist in any way possible to make a positive impact to process. This includes planning content structure, streamlining proofing and editing, production sourcing and pricing, press checking and quality control.

TESTIMONIALS

SAM CREYTON
Acting Curatorial and Engagement Manager
HOTA Gallery

For the development and production of this significant and beautifully designed publication we could not have wished for a better project partner than Studio Starr. Chris worked closely with our team and the exhibiting artist to deliver a stunning catalogue. Chris was readily available, patient and generous, taking the time to discuss every option and work collaboratively to achieve the best possible result. Chris has gone over and above, and we would unreservedly recommend Studio Starr.

When IACA set out to develop a publication recording the legacy of the culturally important multi-year Belonging project, we knew that selecting a designer to accurately convey the significance and proper tone would be key. Initially impressed by his catalogue of work, confirmation that Chris was the right man for the job came quickly via glowing word of mouth reports from industry partners and the existing mutually respectful relationship between himself and our printer of choice.

Chris immediately and sensitively grasped the aspirations of the brief and truly worked with us, genuinely invested in delivering the highest standard and best possible version of the book. Throughout the entire process Chris was a delight to work with, always making himself available, he was generous with his time, patient and helpful with us first time publishers. Chris went above and beyond demonstrating excellent attention to detail, all the while managing to deliver a deadline that other design studios told us couldn’t be done.

Chris supported IACA in delivering a superb book, I can’t imagine a better quality outcome and wholeheartedly recommend Studio Starr’s services.
LINCOLN AUSTIN
Artist

Studio Starr’s development, design and production of ‘Lincoln Austin — The Space Between Us’ exhibition catalogue was a triumph.

From the outset Chris Starr’s committment to designing an outstanding product, while maximising the potential of the allocated project budget, was abundantly apparent.

Chris quickly identified key unifying themes, thoughtfully integrating these into his design. Always open to listening and offering his insight, working with Chris was both rewarding and a delight. I cannot recommend his person and work highly enough.
